Turning Stone Resort and Casino
From a modest gaming hall with a buffet and coffee shop, Turning Stone Resort and Casino has grown into a full-service resort with several upscale restaurants, luxury accommodations, and incredible amenities, thanks to the hard work of the Oneida Nation and its employees.
Oneida Nation Representative and Chief Executive Officer Ray Halbritter, Turning Stone executives, Nation Members, hundreds of employees, special guests, and customers gathered together in July to celebrate the resort’s milestone 15th birthday in the lobby of the Tower hotel.
“People don’t always realize the incredible impact we’ve had on the community, and the positive change Turning Stone has been, not just for the Oneida people, of course, but for the people who live around us,” Halbritter said, reflecting on the importance of the day. “We have made this success (through Turning Stone) that we share and we enjoy with everyone in our region. So, for the first time in many generations, the Oneida people have a better life.”
For generations, the Oneidas have emphasized hospitality and welcoming guests into their homes. Turning Stone Resort and Casino embodies that cultural trait and the resort was lauded for its efforts as AAA Four Diamond ratings were bestowed on its luxury accommodations — The Lodge and The Tower.
It was the third time the Lodge earned such prestigious ratings, while the Tower Hotel earned its second award. The Lodge and The Tower are the only Four-Diamond hotels between Cooperstown and the Finger Lakes, and two of only 17 Upstate lodgings to earn the AAA rating.
The resort’s elegant Wildflowers restaurant, located in the Lodge, also earned AAA ratings. The restaurant is one of only 11 Four-Diamond restaurants in Upstate New York and is the only Four-Diamond restaurant between the Finger Lakes and Saratoga Springs.
On the heels of its inaugural year, Lava dance club earned the resort more honors when the 21,000-square-foot Las Vegas-style dance club landed “The Best Place to Dance” honors, courtesy of Syracuse New Times readers.
Turning Stone also earned its moment in the spotlight during the second year of the Turning Stone Resort Championship, the first regularly-scheduled PGA TOUR® event on Indian land.
Also good news for sports enthusiasts, Turning Stone brought online its Sportsplex — billed as the largest indoor sports facility in Central New York, with more than 117,000 square feet of space. The facility, featuring racquetball courts, tennis courts, and a luxurious clubhouse, also is linked to the indoor golf facility.
